Another day in Kyoto enabled me to see next part of the city. This time I cycled to Gion district. I admired Yasaka Shrine and I also spent a lot of time in Maruyama Park as I consider this place as very delightful. Even though there were many tourists and many pupils as well, it was very peaceful and I really enjoyed spending time there. After that I cycled around this district so that I could found that it have a very specific, fascinating atmosphere.
However the most important part of my day was Festival of the Ages which I had the oppoturnity to attend. 時代祭り is held in Kyoto annualny on October 22. I was amazed by this colorful parade. I was able to see differences between eras in Japan. What`s more, performers made it even more interesting because of their behaviour, such as dancing or music playing. I was wondering how might it look but I couldn`t expect that it would be so wonderful. Moreover the scenery made it even more amazing as it started in Kyoto Imperial Palace (which I consider as one of the most beautiful places in Kyoto that I`ve already seen), and the whole way to the Heian Jingu Shrine. Audience was also very important in creating opinion about this event as everyone was really nice. As I expected, there were a lot of people but I saw much more foreigners that I think I would see. Meeting here a foreigner creates always a very nice situation as everyone is always smiling at another foreigner (I never noticed similar behaviuor in any other country I`ve visited). That is the reason (apart from million others) why I love Japan so much!

Another sightseeing
Yesterday, once again, I had the opportunity to sightsee in Kyoto and also this time I was lucky bacause the weather was perfect for cycling around this marvellous city. I woke up very early so that I could use whole day as much as possible. I like to cycle in the early morning because I can see how life of Japanese people looks like. There aren`t any tourists yet, just normal people hurrying to work. I like the feeling when in particular place I can see someting more than millions of tourists who had been there before.
I started my sightseeing from visiting Daitokuji Temple and its surroundings. It was too early to go inside those temples but I was able to wander around and see them from the outside. My only companions were parents walking their children to school, youths going to their classes or workers cleaning up before tourists` arrivals. Amazing feeling!
I was looking for some place where I could eat my breakfast and I found Funaokayama Park. I didn`t expect that I`ll find such a beautiful place. The view on the mountains was actually breathtaking. I also visited there a Kenkun Shrine. After that I went to Imamiya Shrine which was very close to it.
In the afternoon I went with my friend to Yoshida Shrine which was fabulous. Then we went to see the Shinnyo-do Temple and Korkai Komyouji Temple. I still can`t believe that I`m able to see these fantastic places! At the end we cycle to Heian Jingu Shrine were we had a little rest and we could watch at many toursits from different parts of the world visiting this place. It`s very nice when you are in place for more that couple of days and you don`t have to hurry to see as much as possible in such a short time (although I`m realizing that these six months will also be too short to see everyting here - I know it already). Whole day was wonderful and every place I had seen made me even more in love in this extraordinary city.

Sightseeing in Kyoto
I`m Monika and I`m a student from Poland. I came to Japan about a week ago and I live now in Kyoto. I`m working here in Tondaya, where I learn about Japanese culture. I`ll be here for 6 months. I think this is the most beautiful place I`ve ever been to! Yesterady was my day off from work so I decided to see something more in Kyoto than my work surroundings. Before my arrival here I heard that the best way to explore this place is by bicycle. And I have to admit that`s true! I was cycling for the whole day yesterday around Kyoto and I enjoyd it very much.
Kyoto has many beautiful places that should be seen, so the choice was really difficult for me and I didn`t know what should I pick for my sightseeing, but I think the choice was very good. I started my day from visiting the Nijo Castle (Nijo-jo). I get there just a bit after 9.00 AM so that there weren`t so many tourists yet. The castle is really huge and amazing. As the residence of shogun, Nijo-jo is really distinguished. Unfortunately taking photos was not allowed inside the castle but outside and in the gardens I could take some. The inside of Ninomaru Palace was breathtaking! I was walking around and I could really see that amazing place. I saw many of wonderful wall paintings. Next I walked through Ninomaru Garden and Honmaru Garden. I think that this place should be seen by every visitor to Kyoto as it`s really hard to describe how beautiful it is.
However, Nijo Castle wasn`t the only place I`ve visited yesterday. I also saw the Heian Jingu Shrine. When I was in Poland and I was preparing to my journey to Japan I was reading a lot about Kyoto and I saw a lot of photos of it. But even though I knew what should I expect to see here, I was really astonished to see it in real as it looks thounsand times more dignified. I was astonised when I saw the Heian Jingu Shrine. Not only the inside of the shrine was amazing but also a huge tori gate in front of it. The sun was shining almost for the whole day so it was really great weather for sightseeing. The shrine had an amazing colour beacause of the sunshine rays. On my way back home there were also some interesting shrines so I decided to stop by and see how do they look. FIrst I saw Kumano Shrine and then Goou Shrine and Seimei Shrine. They weren`t so big but even though extremely beautiful. I really enjoy visiting these amazing places. The atmosphere there is indescribable.
Everything I saw yesterday was even more amazing for me as it`s completely different from my culture and from architecture in Poland or in other parts of Europe.I always dreamed about visiting Japan (especially Kyoto because of its traditional style) and it`s really hard to describe feeling while making your dreams come true! That was an unforgettable day for me and I hope for more days like this. I know already that leaving Japan will be extrenely hard for me.
