Hina matsuri
Hina matsuri is the Japanese Doll Festival or Girl's day. It is held on March 3 to pray young girl's growth and happiness. On this day platforms covered with a red carpet are used to display a set of ornamental dolls representing Emperor, Empress and attendants in traditional Japanese dress of the Heian period.
Tondaya preserved a great number of Hina Dolls. And in honour of this festival beautiful exhibition of Hina Dolls dressed in gorgeous kimono is held from February 20 till March 3 in Tondaya. Also, Diamond shaped rice cakes, sweets and white sake are displayed.
And we organize special program including Machiya tour, special dishes with shirozake (white sweet sake), traditional games and songs on these days (at 11am - 1 pm). Price: 8 400 yen.
